BattleMedQB has been established primarly to help clinicians pass the BATLS course in the UK.
- The BATLS course is the Battlefield Advance Trauma Life Support Course
- It is run by the Defence Medical Academy in the UK
- It's course instructors are all experienced members of the Defence Medical Services. They are from all cadres - CMTs, nurses, paramedics and doctors
- All medical personnel must pass BATLS before they are allowed to deploy.
- The BATLS qualification is valid for 2 years and then it needs to be repeated.
- The BATLS course involves online pre-reading and pre-course test. This will take most people the best part of 1 working day to complete.
- The course normally takes 2 days to complete. This involves lectures on all of the main topics, workshops, practical sessions, simulation moulages and discussion.
- The final part of the course is the MCQ and practical assessment.
- The MCQ involves 40 single best answer questions - similar to this question bank. The pass mark varies but you want to be aiming for over 70%.
- The practical assessment involves a full moulage with all of the kit, a "real patient", possibly 1 helper and an examiner. You will be expected to demonstrated a comprehensive primary survey and normally, at least 1 skill.
